TIRUCHIRAPPALLI TOURS

ANBIL ALANTHURAI TEMPLE

Anbil Alanthurai Temple is dedicated to Shiva and is located in the banks of kollidam river in Anbil, a small village near Lalgudi. AZHAGIYA MANAVALAN PERUMAL TEMPLE

Azhagiya Manavalan Perumal Temple (also called Thirukozhi or Nachiyar Koil) in Woraiyur, a suburb Tiruchirappalli. It is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is one of the 108 Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Azhagiya Manavalan and his consort Lakshmi as Kamalavalli. A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all its shrines and bodies of water. The temple has a 5-tiered rajagopuram, the temple's gateway tower.

BRAHMAPUREESWARAR TEMPLE

The Brahmapureeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple located in Thirupattur near Trichy, India. Contrary to general impression, there is more than one Lord Brahma temple in India. There is a separate shrine for Lord Brahma. The idol of Lord Brahma is in meditative pose sitting in Padmasana on a lotus. The temple complex also has the Jeeva Samadhi of Yogi Patanjali, the author of Yoga Sutras.

ERUMBEESWARAR TEMPLE

Erumbeeswarar Temple in Thiruverumbur, Tamil Nadu, India, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva. Built on a 60-foot tall hill, it is accessible via a flight of steps. The temple's main shrines and its two prakarams are on top of the hill, while a hall and the temple tank are located at the foothills. Erumbeeswarar is revered in the canonical 7th-century Tamil Saiva work the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as nayanmars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam.

JAMBUKESWARAR TEMPLE, THIRUVANAIKAVAL

Thiruvanaikaval is a famous Shiva temple in Tiruchirapalli. The temple was built by Kocengannan, around 1,800 years ago. It is located in the Srirangam island, It is one of the five major Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu representing the Mahabhuta or five great elements; this temple represents the element of water, or neer in Tamil. The sanctum of Jambukeswara has an underground water stream and in spite of pumping water out, it is always filled with water.

SAMAYAPURAM MARIAMMAN TEMPLE

Samayapuram Mariamman Temple is a Hindu temple in Samayapuram near Tiruchirappalli. The main deity, Samayapurathal or Mariamman is made of sand and clay like many of the traditional Mariamman deities, and hence unlike many other Hindu deities there are no abhishekams (sacred washing) conducted to the main deity, but instead the "abishekam" is done to the small stone statue in front of it.

UTHAMAR KOVIL

Uthamar Kovil (also known as Thirukkarambanoor or Bhikshandar Kovil) in Uthamarkoil, a village in the outskirts of Tiruchirappalli, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture. It is one of the 108 Divvadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Purshottamar and his consort Lakshmi as Poornavalli.

ROCK FORT TEMPLE

It is famous for its rock in the very heart of the town. The rock rises to a height of 273 feet to be climbed by a flight of 417 steps. There are Two Vinayaka Temples at the foot and the top of the rock respectively and a Temple for Siva in between. Lord Siva is known as 'Thayumanavar'. It means the God who turned Mother. There is a legend about it.

GUNASEELAM TEMPLE

Prasanna Venkatachalapathy temple is a famous Vishnu temple in Gunaseelam. Pilgrims stay here for about 48 days ,worship God and partake the prasadam from the temple and get relief from their problems. The temple is noted for treating those mentally distarded. There is a rehabilitation centre for the patients. They are made to sit in the shrine during the afternoon and night pujas. The abishek theertha is spilled on their face.

SRIRANGAM

Srirangam is the foremost of the eight self-manifested shrines of Lord Vishnu. It is also considered the first, foremost and the most important of the 108 main Vishnu temples. This temple is also known as Thiruvaranga Tirupati, Periyakoil, Bhoologa Vaikundam, Bhogamandabam. In the Vaishnava parlance the term "KOIL" signifies this temple only. The temple is enormous in size. This temple lies on an islet formed by the twin rivers Cauvery and Coleroon.

SRI SUBRAMANYA SWAMY TEMPLE, VAYALUR

Sri Aadinateshwar is located at the entrance of the Temple is a swayambu lingam. He is called Agnishwarar as he was worshipped by the fire god Agni; The Lord holds the pomegranate fruits which symbolises the universe or in other word fullness. Just in front of the Temple we find the temple tank called "Sakti Tirtham" which is believed to have been created with the Lord's vel. This is also called Kumara Tirtham and Agni Tirtham

VEKKALIAMMAN TEMPLE

Sri Vekkaliamman Temple is situated in Woraiyur. The Amman is facing the north. It was believed by the ancient kings that Gods and Goddess who personify valour and facing north will bless the kings with victory in the battle. Hence all the ancient kings used to pray Vekkali Amman before leaving to the battle field.

VIRALIMALAI

Viralimalai is a town located 30 km from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. The famous Lord Shanmuganathar temple is situated on the top of the granite hill at Viralimalai. The temple was once a renowned seat of the Bharatanatyam dance form and boasted of a separate dancer for each of the 32 adavus (dance movements).

KUDUMIYANMALAI, THE LORD WITH PONY-TAIL

Kudumiyanmalai is one of the important places in Pudukkottai district is noted for its millennium old monuments and the celebrated Musical Inscription. Colloquially the place is known as Kudumiyamalai. The village is centered around a small hillock, where a cave temple has been carved on its foot. This cave temple, locally known as Melaikkovil, has been extended continuously during later times which suggests that this place held quite an importance in the past.
