Chennai is the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal, it is the biggest industrial and commercial centre in South India, and a major cultural, economic and educational centre.According to the provisional results of 2011 census, the city had 4.68 million residents, making it the sixth most populous city in India. The area of Chennai was expanded in 2011 from 176 Sq Km to 426 Sq Km. The urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, is home to approximately 8.9 million, making it the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the country and 31st largest urban area in the world.


KABALEESHWARAR TEMPLE

Kabaleeshwarar Temple is a temple of Shiva located in Mylapore, Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The form of Shiva's wife Parvati worshipped at this temple is called Karpagambal. The temple was built around the 7th century CE in Dravidian architecture.


KAMAKSHI AMMAN TEMPLE

Kamakshi Amman Temple is situated in Chetty Street, Saidapet. It is a Hindu temple administered by the Vishwakarma community. The presiding deity is the goddess Kamakshi. The temple is located near the Saidapet railway station and is believed to be more than 300 years old. The temple is one of the five holy shrines of the Viswakarma community in Chennai district.

MAHABALIPURAM

Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram is a town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is around 60 km south from the city of Chennai. It is an ancient historic town and was a bustling seaport during the time of Periplus (1st century CE) and Ptolemy (140 CE). Ancient Indian traders who went to countries of South East Asia sailed from the seaport of Mahabalipuram.

KASI VISWANATHA TEMPLE

Kasi Viswanatha Temple is a Hindu temple located in the neighbourhood of West Mambalam in Chennai, India. Dedicated to Siva, the temple is named after the Vishwanatha Temple at Varanasi. Constructed in the 17th century, the temple is also known as "Mahabilva Kshetra".


VADAPALANI ANDAVAR TEMPLE

Vadapalani Andavar Temple is located in Vadapalani, Chennai. The temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga. The temple was renovated in 1920s and a Rajakopuram was built during that time. The temple has grown in popularity believed in part due to the patronage of cinema stars.


THYAGARAJA TEMPLE

Thyagaraja Temple ( also called as Vadivudai Amman Temple ) is a Hindu temple dedicated to Hindu god Shiva. It is located in Tiruvottiyur in the northern part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is revered by the Tevaram hymns of Saiva nayanars, the 7th century Tamil saint poets and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam.

ANANTHA PADMANABHASWAMI TEMPLE

The Anantha Padmanabhaswami Temple is a Hindu temple in the neighbourhood of Adyar in Chennai, India. The temple is located on 2nd Main Road, Gandhi Nagar, near the Fortis Malar Hospital.

Angala Parameswari Temple is a Hindu temple located in Royapuram in the northern part of Chennai, India. The presiding deity is the goddess Angala Parameswari. The temple is one of the five holy shrines of the Viswakarma community in Chennai district.


MARINA BEACH

Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in the city of Chennai, India, along the Bay of Bengal, part of the Indian Ocean. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Besant Nagar in the south, a distance of 13 km , making it the longest natural urban beach in the country and the world's second longest.


VANDALUR ZOO

Arignar Anna Zoological Park (abbreviated AAZP), also known as the Vandalur Zoo, is a zoological garden located in Vandalur, a suburb in the south western part of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, about 31 kilometres (19 mi) from the city centre and 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Chennai Airport. Founded in 1855, the park was the first public zoo in India. It is affiliated with the Central Zoo Authority of India.
